Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Her parents had divorced and they moved together with their mother in Los Angeles. The actress landed her first part, as Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001 despite struggling with finances. Her performance as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. film Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the main actress in Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace was dropped from the series in the year 2005, to take on the role of a greater part in film, appearing in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. In addition, she appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in the year 2008. The same character was played by Grace on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace returned to Shannon's character on Lost for two episodes, which included the final episode of the series. She appeared in 2013's sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who is both an avid stargazer as well as a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. In her teens She began working as a small part-time actress for her father and appeared in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. She also appeared as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, the romantic comedy-drama erotico and Sherrybaby (a dramatic) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Awards. The year 2006 was the time she starred in numerous commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as an unmarried mother of Crazy Heart (2009), she earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Following that she appeared in comedy as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Apart from her character as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen as a character in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). The latest roles included her character as the primary protagonist of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal composed and directed her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
